Product Information: Streamline Hose 6mm & 8mm
Streamline and Spotless Hose 6mm & 8mm reinforced PVC Yellow and Hiviz hose are a high quality hose that has proved a good all-round performer for water fed pole systems.
The thicker outer wall gives heavy duty durability for improved resistance to abrasion yet has good flexibility making it easy to use.
Customer Questions:
Why use this hose? The advantage of using 6mm and 8mm bore hoses is that both are smaller in outside diameter than standard 13mm (1/2”) bore garden hose. This means that longer lengths of hose, both 50m and 100m lengths, can be stored on a hose reel (see WXV020 and WXV023 for hose reel options).
Is this hose suitable for use as a pole hose? No, use a 5mm bore hose. (Search '5mm' in our search box to find a suitable pole hose).
Which hose bore should I use? As a general rule always choose the largest bore size of hose. This will reduce the pressure loss within the system and allows the pump to operate at a lower speed – so 8mm bore hose is better than 6mm bore hose. However there may be times when the physical weight and size of the hose are an important factor, in this case 6mm bore hose has an advantage – providing the increased pressure loss does not cause any operational problems.
What’s the difference between mini bore and microbore hose? Microbore is generally 6mm bore hose and mini bore is 8mm bore hose. The two terms can sometimes be confused. It is better to state the bore size, rather than ask for mini bore or microbore.
Why do you state the bore size instead of the outside diameter? Most of the hose fittings we supply fit into the bore of the hose and these fittings are described by the bore size of hose they fit.
Which size of O Clip fits? 6mm bore hose use O Clip WXV602 and 8mm use O Clip WXV603.

Hose Selection Guide:
As a general rule, you should keep the hose bore as large as possible and keep the length of the hose as short as possible. Also keep the number of connections as few as possible.
- 5mm Bore Hose. The best for pole hose.
- 6mm Bore Hose: A useful hose that will fit in 50m and 100m lengths on good hose reels.
- 8mm Bore hose: Similar to the 6mm bore hose above, you can use this hose on good hose reels. Available in 50m and 100m lengths. The advantage is less pressure loss than the 6mm bore hose.
- 12.5mm Bore Hose: The best hose to use from the Water Tank, the Pump, DI Vessel and Hose Reel.
Helpful Information:
Use fittings and connectors that minimise the pressure loss on your system. Brass connectors are good with a Jubilee Clip, but they are more of a permanent way to set up your system. Alternatively you could use hoselock fittings.
Another useful tip that will help you when fitting the hose over a hose tail, is to warm the end of the hose in hot water first.
