What is Spray-extraction carpet cleaning?
A solution of water soluble detergent is sprayed into the carpet fibres and almost immediately sucked along the dirt out of the carpet.
What steps do you follow to clean a carpet?
First check that the carpet can be wet cleaned with the chemicals you propose to use. Look for damage, spots and stains to the carpet, and check the carpet is properly fitted. Then cleaning may begin, firstly vacuum the carpet with a suitable vacuum cleaner for the carpet fibres. Treat the spots and stains. Pre-spray traffic lanes and use a carpet pile brush. Extraction clean the carpet using a suitable detergent to remove any spot and stain or pre-spray chemicals. Place furniture on foil pads or foam blocks. Reset pile with a carpet rake. Ventilate the room to aid drying.
How do you wash Microfibre cloths?
Most Microfibre cloths can be hand rinsed in water or machine washed at low temperature. Do not use fabric conditioner when washing.
Can I fit a brush to a traditional window cleaning pole for high level dusting?
Yes, but it is best to choose a pole and brush from the same manufacturer. For example Unger make a good combination of dusting brushes which fit Unger telescopic Aluminium poles.
Can gutters be cleaned from the ground?
Gutters can be cleaned from the ground using a suitable vacuum cleaning. These commercial machines are much larger than domestic machines and come with suitable tools and accessories for reaching and cleaning gutters safely. They are also capable of dealing with wet waste, unlike domestic vacuum cleaners.
What are the advantages of using a litter picker?
There are a number of advantages in using a litter picker. Firstly it protects the user from directly touching contaminated or dangerous items. Secondly it allows the user to pick items that are otherwise difficult to reach. By selecting a litter picker of suitable length the user can also reduce the amount of bending over need to pick up an item.

What is pure water window cleaning?
Water that has been purified is often pumped to a brush fitted to a telescopic pole. The brush will provide gentle cleaning while the pure water washes away any dirt.
How is pure water made?
Water is purified by a combination of using a Reverse Osmosis System (known as a RO System) and Resin Bead Filter (known as a DI vessel or DI filter).
I have had my windows cleaned using pure water and they have been left wet, is this correct?
Cleaning windows with pure water does not require that the windows are left dry. Residual water left after cleaning will evaporate leaving the window looking clean.
What height do water fed poles reach?
Water fed poles start at a length of about 0.7m 29” for a small pole and are available in different lengths up to 22.25m 73’ for the longer poles.
What pressure pump do I need for my window cleaning system?
Most water pumps used for window cleaning have a maximum pressure of 100psi. However in practice most systems would normally be working at about 50-60psi.

What do I need to clean my windows?
The easiest way to clean most windows is by using an Applicator and Squeegee. The Applicator is used to apply a suitable cleaning fluid onto the window and a Squeegee is used to remove the cleaning fluid, leaving a clean window.
What is an Applicator?
An Applicator is made up of two items. The T Bar, which is the part you hold. The other part is a Sleeve, which fits on the T Bar and is made of a fabric that holds the cleaning fluid.
What sizes of Applicators are available?
The most common sizes are 25cm 10”, 35cm 14” and 45cm 18”. With the most popular being 35cm 14”. Other sizes are available, please contact us for availability
What is a window cleaning Squeegee?
A window cleaning tool designed to remove liquid from glass. A Squeegee combines a Handle and a Channel. The Channel will include a Rubber.
Can I buy replacement rubber for my Squeegee?
Yes. Most squeegees use the same type of rubber. It can be purchased in pre-cut lengths or longer lengths and cut to length. We stock rubber that will fit Ettore, Unger, Pulex, Lewi, SYR and Moerman squeegees.
What sizes are available for squeegees?
Different ranges of squeegees have channels that start at 6” 15cm and go up to 42” 105cm.
What materials are squeegees channels made from?
Three main materials are used to make squeegee channels. Brass, Stainless Steel and Aluminium.
Can washing up liquid be used to clean windows?
Washing up liquid is a popular choice for homeowners, however there are professional detergents available from Unger, Ettore and SYR.
What size window scrapers are available?
They start at 1½” 38mm up to 6” 150mm.
What holds the rubber in place on traditional window cleaning squeegees?
Brass channels require end clips. These grip the rubber and slide into the ends of the channel. Most Brass channels require two clips on each channel, however smaller channels (6” 15cm) only need one. Stainless Steel channels usually have the rubber held in place by teeth on the squeegee handle. Aluminium channels vary, with a combination of end clips or specific handles being required. What shape of bucket best fits an applicator?
Oblong buckets are the popular choice for professional window cleaners.
Are applicator sleeves machine washable?
Most are machine washable at low temperatures, say 30˚C. When washing do not use fabric conditioner. Allow to air dry.
Do I need end clips for my Channels?
If you have Brass Channels then you will likely need to use End Clips. Most Aluminium Channels also use End Clips. Most Stainless Steel Channels (with a few exceptions) do not require End Clips.
What do will a window cleaning pouch hold?
Pouches are often used to carry window scrapers and cloths (Scrim) Some have additional pockets for other items such as a receipt book or mobile phone.
What’s the difference between a floor scraper and a window scraper?
Window scrapers tend to have far sharper, thinner blades. Floor scrapers have less sharp (blunt) heavier duty blades. Floor scrapers are usually designed with a heavier duty handle.
How do I choose the right size of window cleaning squeegee?
Choose a channel length less than the largest width or height of the windows pane. For larger windows, choose a size that is comfortable to use. The most popular sizes are 14” 35cm and 18” 45cm. Sizes above this are usually used only by professional window cleaners.
What is Scrim?
Scrim is a Linen cloth used by traditional window cleaners. The best quality is Grade 1. It is best to buy a pre-washed Scrim that is hemmed.
Do I need to boil wash my scrim before use?
If you buy Unger pre-washed scrim, boil washing before use is not necessary.
What’s the difference between pure water (water fed) and traditional window cleaning?
Pure water (water fed) relies on the ability of purified water to ‘grab’ dirt on the surface and rinse it away. The purified water is typically applied by a brush that helps loosen the dirt. The windows are left wet and dry gradually leaving a clean window. With traditional window cleaning a detergent is applied to the window using an applicator, which also loosen the dirt. The window is dried by removing the detergent with a squeegee.
How do I remove birds mess on my windows?
With traditional window cleaning methods, the detergent is applied to the window using an applicator. Most professional applicator sleeves have an abrasive pad at the end. This can be used to remove birds mess.
What’s the difference between soft and hard squeegee rubber?
Both can be used all year round, however soft compound squeegee rubber is often chosen when the weather is colder or the window cleaner wishes to apply less pressure to the glass. Hard compound rubber is often used in warmer weather or when the window cleaner prefers to press harder on the glass. Of the two, soft compound rubber is the most popular. Manufacturer’s who make squeegee rubber that does not specify hard or soft, the rubber tends to be soft.
Can traditional window cleaning extension poles be repaired.
Spare parts are available for most poles. The most cost effective spare parts are end cones, section locking clamps and base caps. Replacing sections can be relatively expensive. It is best to stick to the manufacturers own parts for replacement parts. Contact us for more details.

What’s the advantage of a Bucket-on-Belt?
The advantage is easy carrying of traditional window cleaning tools. A number of different Bucket-On-Belt systems are available. All will hold at least one squeegee and one applicator.
